Seminar on “Controlled Release Drug Delivery Systems: Scale up, Commercialization and Entrepreneurship Opportunities”

One-day seminar on “Controlled Release Drug Delivery Systems: Scale up, commercialization and Entrepreneurship Opportunities” was organized by CRS-Indian Local Chapter, Mumbai and Manipal Academy of Higher Education [MU] at Bengaluru Campus, Manipal Academy of Banking, Bengaluru on 5 December 2015. The seminar was partially sponsored by Ce-chem Laboratories, Bengaluru. The program was inaugurated by lighting the lamp in presence of the chief guest Shri M Chandrashekar, Director, Ce-Chem Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru. Dr Ramesh Bhonde, Director, School of Regenerative Medicine, Manipal Academy of Higher Education and Dr Parizad Elchidana, Managing Director, Apotex Research Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru were Guests of Honour. Scientific sessions included guest lectures by eminent speakers such as Dr Shobha Rani Hiremath (Professor and Principal, Al-Ameen College of Pharmacy, Dr Vandana Patravale (Professor, Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai), Dr Parizad Elchidana , Dr N Udupa (Research Director, MU), Dr Vijay Kulkarni (Group Leader, Pharmaceutical Development Center, STEERLife India Pvt. Ltd., Dr Srinivas Mutalik (Professor, MCOPS) and Dr Karthik A (Senior Scientist, Advinus Therapeutics Ltd., Bengaluru). Talks were on the areas related to scaling up of controlled delivery systems, drug eluting stents, leveraging drug delivery strategies to drive innovation, different controlled release dosage forms, hot melt extrusion technology, etc. Dr Vinay Rao (Director, Pharmaceutical Development Center, STEERLife India Pvt. Ltd.), Dr Arshad Bashir, Professor, Krupanidhi College of Pharmacy and Dr M Sreenivasa Reddy, Professor and Vice Principal, MCOPS, Manipal were chairpersons for various lectures. The program concluded with the valedictory function and distribution of certificates to the participants.
