Griffith University’s Dr Devinder Arora Visited MCOPS

Dr. Devinder Arora, Senior Lecturer, Griffith University, Gold Coast campus, Australia, paid a visit to Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, MAHE, Manipal during 10 to 17 February 2024, after a short span of one year.

The commencement of his activities was marked by participating in a half marathon organized by MAHE, Manipal on 11 Feb 2024. During the following days, as a skill transfer exercise, lab experiments were performed to establish the acute and chronic kidney injury models. Meanwhile Dr Arora had also engaged a class of Second Year PharmD students and taught them Neurotransmission in CNS. This was followed by a guest lecture on “Raising Awareness about Substandard and Predatory Publishing in Science”, was delivered by Dr Arora in the afternoon session, where 50 participants including UG, PG, Research Scholars and staff members were present. Dr Jayesh and Dr Madhavan along with two research scholars were directly involved in the planning of the experiment for the next four days till 15 Feb 2024.

On the next day, Dr Arora interacted with Director, Finance, MAHE as a part of ongoing collaboration to discuss the future possibilities and opportunities of financial assistance. Also, a PhD scholar’s Pre-synopsis presentation was organized and attended by Dr Arora. Being the co-guide to Ms Niraja Ranadive, Dr Arora actively guided her for the data analysis, writing and finalizing the content of the thesis as well as presentation.  On 16 Feb 2024, a workshop “My encounters with Diabetes as a Pharmacologist” was organized from 2-5pm, where Dr Arora shared his expertise and conceptually discussed the therapeutic aspect related to Diabetes for the benefit of students, and faculty members as well. During these lectures, Dr Arora interacted with the PGs and Faculty members of MCOPS. A total of 50 participants got benefitted from the workshop including 25 PharmDs, 8 PGs, 5 Faculty members and rest being the research scholars from MCOPS, Manipal. The concluding meeting on the research / PhD projects, discussion, was held on 17 Feb and thereafter he departed for Australia, after a fruitful and effective collaborative visit to MCOPS.
