DST-SERB Sponsored High-End Workshop on ‘Clinical and Translational Research for Precision Medicine’

Department of Pharmacy Practice, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, MAHE, Manipal has organized a High-End Workshop on ‘Clinical and Translational Research for Precision Medicine’, sponsored by DST-SERB, from July 25th to 30th, 2022 at the seminar room, Department of Medical Education, MAHE. Dr. Mahadev Rao, Professor and event organizer, Department of Pharmacy Practice, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, MAHE, has received a workshop grant from the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) under the Accelerate Vigyan Scheme ‘KARYASHALA’, Government of India, New Delhi, INDIA. A total of 25 students from 21 institutes across 9 states participated in the workshop, out of which 13 were Ph.D. students and 12 were post-graduate students.
The workshop's inaugural function was conducted on 25 July 2022 at 10.30 AM. Dr. C. Mallikarjuna Rao, Principal, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, MAHE, welcomed the gathering. Mahadev Rao gave an overview of the workshop and highlighted that this workshop was meant to disseminate the knowledge in the area of translational research through a multidisciplinary and multi-institutional integrated learning approach so that the researchers are better equipped to integrate information from multiple domains and conduct independent or team-oriented research, thereby contributing to improve national and global health. The chief guest of the program, Dr. Sharath K. Rao, Dean, Kasturba Medical College, MAHE, inaugurated the workshop. Dr. Sharath K. Rao, in his address, mentioned the importance of precision medicine in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of patients for deriving maximum clinical benefits. Guest of honor, Dr. B. S. Satish Rao, Director of Research (Health Sciences) and Manipal School of Life Sciences, MAHE addressed the gathering about the importance of translational research in bridging laboratory and clinical research. Dr. Surulivel Rajan M, Head, Department of Pharmacy Practice, thanked the audience.
