As a part of International Literacy Day and Teacher’s Day 2024 celebrations, the Community Development Committee (CDC) of MCOPS, under the leadership of Dr. Prasanna Kumar, organized a community outreach program at Government Composite High School, Parkala. The program was designed to educate students about health and lifestyle choices through engaging and interactive activities. Event Highlights were Health and life style education, Dengue prevention skit and Interactive fun activities.
Health and Lifestyle Educationcommenced with an informative session on maintaining healthy lifestyle habits. CDC volunteers educated the students on essential topics such as personal hygiene, regular physical activity, and balanced diets. The students were also made aware of the negative impact of unhealthy habits like poor nutrition, lack of exercise, and excessive screen time. This session aimed to motivate students to incorporate healthy practices into their daily lives.
In Dengue Prevention Skit, the volunteers performed a skit focusing on dengue prevention, which captured the audience’s attention through its creative approach. The skit explained how the transmission of dengue by Aedes mosquitoes occurs and stressed on the importance of preventive actions like eliminating stagnant water, using mosquito repellents, and maintaining cleanliness. The performance successfully conveyed vital health information in an engaging manner.
Interactive Fun Activities were conducted to ensure the day was enjoyable for the students where several group games and creative activities were organized. The students enthusiastically participated in games like "passing the ball" and "river and bank," which fostered teamwork and coordination. Additionally, creative sessions like origami and coloring allowed the students to express themselves artistically. Dancing and singing activities added further excitement to the day, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere.
The outreach program concluded with a valedictory address by the school principal, Mrs. Rathna K. She extended her gratitude to the CDC and MCOPS for their efforts in organizing the event and emphasized the significance of such programs in fostering community engagement and health education. The event was a resounding success, combining education with entertainment, and left a lasting positive impact on the students.
