Report on Webinar conducted by Centre for Pharmacometrics
February 04, 2022
Centre for Pharmacometrics, MCOPS, MAHE, Manipal in collaboration with Consortium of Dose Optimization (CODE) conducted its first webinar as a part of the pharmacometrics webinar series on 4 February 2022 on the MS Team platform in online mode. Dr. Rakesh Gollen, Clinical Pharmacology lead at PTC Therapeutics, Inc., NJ, USA delivered a lecture on the Application of Pharmacometrics in Dose Optimization.
Dr. Gollen is an experienced pharmaceutical scientist with over a decade of industrial experience focused on the development of novel drugs working in both preclinical and clinical drug development, with expertise across multiple therapeutic areas with an emphasis on early and late-stage submissions. His expanded skillset involves the prediction and optimization of safe and efficacious doses in the clinical settings for adults, pediatric, and other specific patient populations requiring dosage regimen modification using various PK-PD/Pharmacometrics approaches like PK/PD, PopPK, and PBPK. He was the Director of Pharmacometrics at Synteract, a Syneos Health company, and Sr. Scientist at Novartis Pharmaceuticals. He has completed his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics and Drug Design, and MS in Industrial Pharmacy, from Long Island University.
Around 40 participants took part in the deliberations and after the presentation, Dr. Gollen presented various concepts of pharmacometrics relevant to dose optimization and dose optimization in special population and the application of PBPK models in dose optimization. After the presentation interacted with the participants and answered their questions.
