The 76th Republic Day of India was celebrated in a grand way at Manipal Academy of Higher Education. This year, the event was hosted by Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences under the eminent leadership of Dr Srinivas Mutalik. The day commenced with the chief guest Dr H S Ballal, Hon Pro-Chancellor, MAHE receiving the guard of honour by MIT NCC Navy Wing cadets in ceremonial uniform carrying Self Loading Rifles (SLR), followed by unfurling the national flag by Dr H S Ballal. Lt Gen Dr M D Venkatesh VSM, Hon Vice Chancellor, MAHE, Dr Narayana Sabhahit, Pro Vice Chancellor - Technology and Science, Dr Sharath K Rao, Pro Vice-Chancellor - Health Sciences, Dr Raviraja N S, COO, and Dr Giridhar Kini, Registrar, MAHE graced the occasion. Dr Sharath K Rao delivered the Republic Day message. The event was vibrant with 20 contingents from various MAHE institutions marching the parade attuned to the beats of “Saare Jahaan Se Achha”. The Republic Day parade by the contingents was evaluated by Vice Admiral Dr Sheila S Mathai, NM, VSM, Prof and Head, Neonatology, KH, Manipal, Dr Aditya Mohan Jadhav, Principal Officer, Student Acquisition and Marketing, MAHE and Lt Col Manjunath Pai G, Chief warden MAHE Hostels. Contingent Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences under the command of Ruthush Shetty bagged the first prize, followed by WGSHA and MCODS Manipal at the second and third places. Vice Principal Dr Usha Y Nayak extended gratitude to all for making the event a grand one. Dr Angel Alex served as Master of ceremony and conducted the event meticulously. MAHE administration & staff, and HODs, ADC Members, Faculty members, Office staff, supporting staff and student volunteers of MCOPS took the lead in various roles in the overall coordination and successful conduct of the event.
