The department of Obstetric and Gynecological Nursing organized an effective alumni engagement guest lecture (series 3/2023) on March 9, 2023, from 3.00 to 4.00 pm at Manipal College of Nursing (MCON), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal for the undergraduate and postgraduate students. This session was organized as one of the many activities planned and conducted to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) 2023. The session was deliberated by Mrs. Ameeka Shereen Lobo (MSc Alumna 2014-16 Batch), who is presently working as a Research Fellow at the Centre for Chronic Disease Control, New Delhi. The topic– ‘Digital safety for women empowerment’ was based on the IWD 2023 theme. The beneficiaries were a total of 65 undergraduate and postgraduate nursing students and six faculty members of MCON, MAHE, Manipal. She stressed the importance of one being aware of the various digital safety methods and applying whichever is feasible, in order to help empower oneself in the digital-savvy world. She also discussed, how a nurse can help the general public to not only be aware but also be prepared to indulge in digital safety activities to protect themselves from exploitation and thus be self-empowered. The students participated very actively in the session.
