SEMINAR ON ‘UPDATES IN HEALTH CARE MANAGEMENT'

Manipal School of Nursing, MCON, MAHE, Manipal organized a seminar on ‘Updates in Health Care Management’ on July 22, 2024, from 8 am to 12 pm for final year DNM students. The chief guest of the program was Dr. Anice George, Professor and Head –Research and Collaboration, MCON, MAHE, Manipal. Dr. Leena Sequira, Principal, MSON, MCON, MAHE, Manipal, introduced the chief guest and welcomed the gathering. Dr. Judith A Noronha, Dean, MCON, Manipal, addressed the participants with her motivational words and encouraged them to be better caregivers as well as to perceive higher education. Dr. Anice in her speech, motivated the students to learn about new technologies in the healthcare system and advised them to take responsibility for updating themselves. The first session was on Legal and Ethical Issues in Patient Care by Dr. Savitha Prabhu, Assistant Professor (Senior scale), MCON, MAHE, Manipal . She highlighted the ethical principles and legal responsibilities of a nurse and emphasized common ethical issues in patient care. Ms. Ranjani P, Assistant Professor (senior scale), MCON, MAHE, Manipal elaborated on Effective Communication in Health Care, which included strategies to improve effective communication and appropriate communication etiquette to be followed while working in a health care setting.

Ms. Janet Prameela Dsouza, Assistant Professor (Sr. Scale), MCON, MAHE, Manipal, explained the Nurse’s role in the administration of medication. She discussed the rights, and routes of drug administration and also stressed medication errors and how to prevent errors while administering medications. Fifty-eight students participated. Participants expressed that the seminar was interesting and useful for their future. The event was coordinated by Ms. Shanthi Pinto, Assistant Lecturer, MSON, MCON, MAHE Manipal. The seminar contributed to sustainable development goal 4: Quality Education.”
