Report of the workshop on ‘Innovative Teaching Methods for Next-Gen Learners’

First-year MSc Nursing students of MCON, MAHE, Manipal, conducted a workshop on “Innovative Teaching Methods for Next-Gen Learners” as part of their curricular requirement on March 13, 2025. The workshop was held in Interact Hall, KMC, MAHE, Manipal, from 9.00 AM to 4.15 PM, with 150 attendees, benefiting undergraduate students, PhD scholars, postgraduate students, faculty members, and future educators.

The event commenced with an inaugural ceremony graced by Dr. G Robert Clive, Principal, Crossland College, Brahmavara, Udupi. Dr. Clive highlighted key aspects of managing alpha-generation learners, emphasizing innovative teaching strategies. Dr. Binil V, Additional Professor and faculty convener of the workshop, introduced the chief guest and welcomed the gathering. Ms. Phuntsho Wangmo, student convener of the workshop, provided an overview outlining the planned sessions and their objectives. Dr. Judith A. Noronha, Dean, MCON, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of using innovative teaching methods to motivate next-generation learners. The inaugural program concluded with a vote of thanks from Ms. Sherap Palmu, student co-convener of the workshop.

The sessions were highly interactive and delivered by expert educators, covering the following topics- “Emotional and Motivational Engagement in the Classroom” by Dr. G. Robert Clive, Principal, Crossland College; “Advancements in Simulation-Based Learning” by Dr. Vimal Krishnan S, Professor and Head, Department of Emergency Medicine, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal; “Integrating AI in Teaching and Assessment” by Dr. Poornima Panduranga Kundapur, Associate Professor and Associate Director of Student Welfare, MIT, Manipal; “Flipped Classroom” by Dr. Manoj Kumar Nagasampige, Founding Director, MAHE Online Education, MAHE; “Fostering Self-Directed Learning” by Dr. Vijetha Shenoy Belle, Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry, KMC; “Reflective Learning” by Dr. Tatiyana Mandal, Assistant Professor-Selection Grade, Department of Basic Medical Sciences, MAHE; and “Understanding and Managing Alpha Generation Learners” by Dr. Elsa Sanatombi Devi, Director of M-FIILIPE, Professor and QMR-MCON, Deputy Director of CCEID, MAHE.

The one-day event concluded with the presentation of certificates to all delegates by Dr Tessy Treesa Jose, Associate Dean, MCON, Manipal. The programme was well appreciated by all the delegates. The workshop aligned with the promotion of good health and well-being and quality education.
