Webinar on Updates in Health Care Management

Manipal School of Nursing, MCON, MAHE, Manipal has organized a seminar on ‘Updates in health care management on 8th July from 9 am to 12 noon

The seminar began with an introduction and welcome speech by Dr Leena Sequira, Principal, MSON, MCON, MAHE Manipal. Dr Judith Angelita Noronha has delivered the keynote address. She expressed that students should not be stagnant in learning. They need to keep updating their knowledge in their profession and move on.

The first session was taken by Ms Charlet Jasmine Vaz, Lecturer, MCON, MAHE, Manipal on ‘Nurses role in the administration of Medication’. It was an informative and interactive session on medication administration. She explained the rights of medication elaborately with live instances from her experience. Students were actively involved in the discussion related to drug calculation. 

The second session was on ‘Effective communication in health care by Ms Jeyalakshmi K, Assistant Professor, MCON, MAHE Manipal. She enlightened the participants on the importance of effective communication in health care. She also discussed regarding seven keys of active listening skills, don’ts of verbal communication, fundamental writing skill in health care and appropriate way of nonverbal communication in the health care setting. She explained how to communicate in an assertive way with examples.

The third session was on ‘legal and ethical issues in patient care by Ms Chithra Kamath, Deputy Nursing Superintendent Level-2, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal. She enlightened the participants on the classification of laws, types of lawsuits in nursing practice and legal responsibilities of a nurse.

The webinar came to an end with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms Edith Jovita Bangera, Asst. Lecturer, MSON. It was hosted by Ms Jayashree Nayak, Assistant Lecturer, MSON. A total of 62 members participated in the seminar.
