Report on International Faculty Engagement

Department of Child Health Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal, organized a guest lecture on the topic “Competency Framework for Clinical Learning” by Ms OLGA GERSHUNI, Lecturer at Fontys University of Applied Sciences (Eindhoven, the Netherlands), Mental Health Program Director & Strategic Advisor at Health Tech Without Borders Researcher and PhD Candidate at Maastricht University, the Department of International Health (Maastricht, the Netherlands), on March 28, 2024, at 3:00 pm.
She discussed the main levels of competencies, such as
1. The nurse reinforces the self-management of people in the social context.
2. The nurse indicates and performs nursing technical actions based on the independent authority or functional independence as described in the BIG Act.
3. Based on clinical reasoning, the nurse identifies the need for nursing care in physical, psychological, functional, and social areas and indicates and provides this care in complex situations, according to the nursing process based on evidence-based practice. All these competencies were discussed under behavioural criteria PL1, PL2, PL3, and PL4.
She divided into four groups and presented on the following four topics: caregiver, evidence-based profession, professional, and quality performance.
A total of 16 faculty and three PhD scholars attended the session. It was a useful, informative, and interactive session that adhered to Sustainable Development Goal 4: “Quality Education.”.
