Report of Awareness session on “Gender Sensitization”

The Education Committee of Student Nurses’ Association 2020 -21 of Manipal College of Nursing Manipal has organized an awareness session on the topic “Gender Sensitization” on 12th February 2021 between 5:00 pm & 6:00 pm.  Dr Geetha Maiya, Director-Student Affairs, MAHE, Manipal was the resource persons for the session. She spoke about gender, gender equality and inequality, problems of gender inequality, major reasons for gender discrimination, sexual harassment at workplace, sexual harassment prevention training etc. She also highlighted about what MAHE is doing towards gender discrimination, gender champion workshop and also about the Internal Complaints Committee of MAHE, Manipal.

The session was deliberated using Microsoft Teams platform. A total of 350 participants including faculty members and students of BSc Nursing, PBBSc Nursing, MSc Nursing and Nurse Practitioner in Critical Care Residency programme attended the session. Resource person addressed and clarified the questions posed by the participants. Feedback from the participants was obtained at the end of the session. The programme was coordinated by SNA Education Committee 2020-21.  A total of 350 participants attended the session.
