Mr. Jeffin Thomas, the organizing secretary welcomed the gathering and expressed that Nursing care standards directly measures the satisfaction of a patient in any health care. Therefore, having to set an evidence of nursing data that are directly responsible for the quality care delivery is an essential factor for continual quality improvement. Dr Padmaraj Hegde, the Deputy Medical Superintendent and Professor of Urology department, KMC Manipal in his inaugural address sensed the importance of qualified nursing team in the highly complex clinical scenario to tackle the complex issues that can prevent complications. He expressed that adequate quality indicator must have sound clinical rationale for its use and measure important aspects of quality that is subjected to provide or health care system control.

Dr Anice George, Dean, Manipal College of Nursing made her concept clear by saying that the core of nursing is care. If care is tendered with strong quality indicators with a humane touch, every patient under our care could make a difference in their perception of health and illness experience. She stressed on the qualities of being a good clinical nurse that could touch many lives with an assertive approach. Dr Christopher Sudhakar, the Deputy Director, Quality and Compliance, Manipal Academy of Higher Education shared his expertise on sensitive nursing quality indicators and engaged every nurse present during the workshop using innovative games to capture the skills of using various clinical assessment indicators which is the core of quality.

Dr. Jyothi Chakrabarty, Dr. Raejsh Nair and Mrs. Melita Sheilini captured the crowd with their amazing clinical images on X-Rays, CT, MRI and ABG report to make sure every health care personnel in the workshop learnt the art of interpretation. Learning the basics of interpretation in areas of such can bring about timely interventions to prevent complications or to save a life in critical care scenarios. Hence nursing plays a pivotal role at the bedside and understanding the clinical diagnostic images and reports can enhance their skills of patient care management. To cultivate the habit of innovative culture, Dr. Elsa Sanatombi Devi, brainstormed the spectators on clinical issues that they currently faced. Every clinical issue is an opportunity to the family of innovators and hence the medical surgical nursing team is all set to come up with innovative prototypes that can ease the clinical working environment and improve the standards of care.

To match with glimpse of the workshop scripted by Ms Karishma Khaund on the outcome of the workshop lies in bringing about a ‘clinical series’ for the nursing fraternity to empower nurse clinicians and faculty to be well equipped with the changing trends in health care. Vote of thanks was rendered by Ms. Jackline Prathibha, with gratitude to the team sponsors, management and the great audience.
