Report on CULTURAL FEST - Kalotsav 2024

The Student Nurses Association (SNA) of Manipal School of Nursing (MSON), Manipal, organised the much-awaited cultural event, Kalotsav 2024, on November 19, 2024, held at the MIT Auditorium, Manipal. The event commenced at 8:30 a.m. with a prayer song that sought divine blessings for the success of the program. Ms. Annette Serena warmly welcomed all the guests and participants.

The event was formally inaugurated by lighting of the lamp by esteemed dignitaries, including Dr. Judith A. Noronha, Dean of Manipal College of Nursing (MCON), Dr. Leena Sequeira, Principal of Manipal School of Nursing, and Mrs. Supriya Vishal Jathan, Advisor of the Cultural Committee, along with faculty co-advisors Ms. Sylvin Mendonca, MS. Nandini, and student cultural representative Ms. Amrutha.

In her inaugural address, Dr. Judith A. Noronha emphasized the significance of participating in cultural activities as an essential part of holistic development. She expressed her best wishes to the participants and encouraged everyone to actively engage in such events for personal and professional growth.

The day’s agenda included various exciting cultural competitions, including classical dance, non-classical dance, group dance, skit, group fancy dress, fashion show, and the coveted titles of Ms. MSON and Mr. MSON. After a keenly contested competition, Ms. Prarthana, a third-year student, was crowned Ms. MSON, while Mr. Dhanush, a second-year student, was selected as Mr. MSON.

The judges, along with faculty members and students from MSON, thoroughly enjoyed the diverse cultural performances. The Individual Championship was bagged by Ms. Prathiksha, a second-year student, for her outstanding performance, while the Overall Championship Trophy was awarded to Team Pioneers with a remarkable score.

The program ended at 4:30 p.m. with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Ms. Tenzin Choestso, the successful execution of Kalostav 2024 was made possible through the diligent coordination of the Cultural Committee Faculty Advisors, and the event significantly contributed to the promotion of Sustainable Development Goal 3 - "Good Health and Wellbeing," reinforcing the importance of well-rounded development for nursing students.
