Summer programme on Career selection at Manipal Academy of Higher Education

Manipal College of Nursing (MCON) has organized summer programme on ‘career selection at Manipal Academy of Higher Education’ for 10th standard and Pre University students on 30th March 2015, from 8.30am to 4.30 pm.

The formal programme started with the inauguration at 9am where Dr. Judith Noronha Associate Dean welcomed the gathering. Dr. GK Prabhu, registrar Manipal Academy of Higher Education was the chief guest for the function. Dr.Prabhu spoke to students on the growth and development of Manipal Academy of Higher Education over the past years and the career opportunities available, which was very well appreciated by the participants. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr.Tessy Treesa Jose, Professor MCON and coordinator of the program. The day’s session begun with career orientation taken by Dr. Narayana Sabhahit, Director Admission, Manipal Academy of Higher Education. He emphasized on the various courses, admission criteria and scholarships available at Manipal Academy of Higher Education. Participants were given a chance to introduce themselves. Orientation to Manipal College of Nursing and BSc nursing programme was given by Dr.Jyothi Chakraborty, Asso. Professor Manipal College of Nursing which was followed by orientation to Manipal Academy of Higher Education by Mrs. Twinkle Lecturer, MCON. A session on fine arts was taken by Prof. ML Samaga, Retd. Principal MGM and a Yakshagana artist. Campus tour was also arranged to orient the students to Manipal campus.

Afternoon session started with session on Positive outlook towards life by Mr. Prabhath M Kalkura, Training coordinator INC, GFATM project MCON. Participants were given the opportunity to interact with the students of MCON. Talent show was organized by Mrs. Sweety Jousline Fernandes, Asst. Professor MCON which the students enjoyed. The day’s programme came to an end with the feedback taken from students. The whole day’s program was compered by Mrs. Manjula Co-coordinator of the program. A total of 67 students from nearby schools attended it. Over all the program was well appreciated by the participants. Due to the high demand another session is organized on 1st April 2015.
