Faculty Development Program - 2016

The Continuing Nursing Education committee of Manipal College of Nursing Manipal, MU organized Faculty Development Programme 2016 from 26.07.2016 to 28.07.2016.

The Programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest of the programme, Dr. Joseph Thomas M, Professor, Department of Urology, Kasturba Hospital and Head Center of Bioethics, Manipal Academy of Higher Education. In his inaugural speech, he focused on three main teaching learning aspects, namely unlearning the learned things for better prospectus of the students, thinking beyond the role of a teacher considering all domains of learning of the students and accepting the new roles by a teacher at all times.  

The first session of the day was on Meta-analysis by Mr. Ravishanker, Biostatistician from Department of Virology Manipal Academy of Higher Education, who took an extensive hands on experience session on working with Review Manager 5.2 version software for analysis.  

Dr. Judith A Noronha Professor, OBG nursing and Associate Dean of MCON Manipal took a session on Data Extraction. 

On 27th July, 2016, faculty from Fundamentals of Nursing, Child Health Nursing, Community Health Nursing and Medical Surgical Nursing completed Basic Life Support session conducted by Manipal Academy of Higher Education and faculty from Manipal School of Nursing, OBG Nursing and Mental Health Nursing completed the same session on 28.07.2016.
Mrs. Shalini G Nayak, Lecturer, Department of Medical Surgical Nursing gave a lecture on Qualitative data analysis using Open Code software followed by a session on Meta-synthesis by Mr. Vishnu Renjith, Research Scholar MCON Manipal. Each department presented research analysis of the last academic year and proposal for the next academic year. A total 75 faculty attended the FDP 2016.
