Seminar on Women Empowerment

The Education Committee of Student Nurses’ Association 2021 -22 of Manipal College of Nursing Manipal has organized a Seminar on the topic “Assertive Communication in Women Empowerment & Nursing Leadership” on 14th May 2022 between 3:00 pm & 4:00 pm as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Ms. Samyukta Vaidyanathan, Assistant Professor, Department of Clinical Psychology, MCHP, MAHE, Manipal spoke on assertive communication in women empowerment. She discussed the difference between assertiveness and aggression with respect to women gender, the importance of assertive communication, and its implication in the workplace. She stressed the need of being assertive in the nursing profession. Dr. Leena Sequira, Principal, Manipal School of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal spoke on Nursing Leadership. She deliberated on the importance of leadership, leadership roles in nursing, qualities of nurse leaders, and leadership skills. She briefed on the ways to develop leadership skills by giving various clinical examples.

The session was conducted in the MMMC classroom. A total of 88 students from fourth-year BSc Nursing attended the session. Students’ queries were addressed and clarified by the resource persons. The program was coordinated by SNA Education Committee 2021-22.
