Mathribhasha Divas Observation Report

Rig Veda says “One should respect his motherland, his culture and his mother tongue because they are givers of happiness”. To show the respect towards the diversity of languages in India on Mathribhasha Divas, Manipal College of Nursing Manipal, Manipal Academy of Higher Education observed this nationally significant day.

Student Nurses’ Association and faculty jointly conducted a solo singing competition on 21st February 2015. Songs from different Indian languages like Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Konkani, Tulu and Malayalam were sung by the students. Significance of the day was highlighted by the students.  

First prize was won by Ms. Althu Alias, II prize by Ms. Deepika V and third prize by Ms. Glen Supritha. The competition was judged by Dr. Sonia R B D’Souza, Associate Professor, MCON Manipal and Mrs. Shubhalakshmi, Assistant Lecturer, Manipal School of Nursing Manipal. The faculty and students of Manipal College of Nursing were the spectators for the event.
