School Health Programme Report 2024

An outreach program was organized by the First Year Post Basic BSc (PBBSc) Nursing students of Manipal College of Nursing (MCON), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, on September 20, 2024, under the guidance of Dr. Sangeetha Priyadarshini, Assistant Professor, Department of Child Health Nursing, MCON. The event took place between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM and aimed to raise awareness on "Nutrition for Healthy Childhood and Personal Hygiene" for 50 students of classes IV and V of Academy School, Manipal.

The outreach program focused on educating the children about the different types of nutrients, their food sources, and their importance for overall health. Additionally, the significance of personal hygiene in preventing diseases was highlighted. Good health is a key component of sustainable development, and this initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3): Good Health and Well-Being.

The session began with a warm welcome by Mrs. Laxmi, the Headteacher of Academy School. Mr. Pratham, a first-year PB BSc Nursing student, introduced the objectives of the program. The awareness session incorporated interactive elements such as discussions, a skit, and a dance performance, along with a demonstration of proper handwashing techniques to engage the students more effectively.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Pratham, a first-year PBBSc Nursing student. Feedback was taken from the participants, and both the students and faculty of the school expressed their appreciation, noting that the program was well-organized and highly beneficial for them.
