Silver Jubilee and Annual Day Celebrations

MCON celebrated its glorious existence of 25 years and Annual day on 24th January 2015 in KMC Greens, Manipal at 5.30 pm by offering floral tributes- to Late Dr. TMA Pai was done by the dignitaries.Prof. Vasudha Kamat, Vice Chancellor, SNDT women’s University, Mumbai was the chief guest. Dr. Judith Noronha, Associate Dean,Manipal College of Nursing welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest.

The chief guest was very happy by Research work and grants received by the institution. She was also impressed by the growth of the institution for the last 25 years. She suggested that e- learning and credit courses to be introduced in nursing. She also gave away the awards to the students. Dr. Anice George ,Dean, MCON presented the annual and silver jubilee report.


Dean and HoDs of the college felicitated Mrs. Vasanthi R Pai on behalf of the college. Prof. P.P. Bhanumathi, Founder Dean &Late Dr. Aparna Bhaduri were felicitated by citations read by Dr. Mamatha S Pai & Dr. Elsa Sanatombi Devi.


Dr. H. VinodBhat, Pro Vice Chancellor, MU felicitated the advisors of the college and released the Journal of the college. He also addressed the gathering mentioning that he was happy that this is the 2nd institutional journal released by MU. First batch of students,teaching and non-teaching staff were felicitated by Mrs. Vasanthi R Pai.


 

Book on advanced concepts in Psychosocial aspects of critical ill patients authored by Dr, Elsa S Devi was released by Dr.PLN Rao, Registrar evaluation, MU. In his address, he spoke on his happiness on the steadfast growth of the college under the able leadership of Dr. Anice George.

Dr. Surendra Shetty, Pro Vice Chancellor, Mangalore Campus, MU released the Silver Jubilee documentary which was followed by screening of the documentary. This was followed the rendering of the college anthem.


Faculty awards were presented by Dr. K Ramnarayan, Vice Chancellor, MU.


Dr. G.K Prabhu Registrar, MU felicitated the Ph.D awardees and presented award to the composer of the lyrics of the College anthem, the music composer as well as the Silver Jubilee logo.
 

Dr. Latha Venkateshan, Principal, Apollo College of Nursing, Chennai was the guest of honor and she addressed the gathering. She mentioned that it was a home coming for her. She suggested the Dean to have nurse scientists in the field of nursing so that changes could be brought about in the profession of nursing. She also presented proficiency certificates 

Response from alumni was given by Dr. Neetha Kamath, Associate Professor, Sahyadri College of Nursing, Mangalore and Dr. Simi Jesto Joseph Nurse Practitioner, Director of Research & Clinical Services, GI Solutions, Morton Grove.

 Dr. Josephine Little Flower, Nursing Advisor to Government of India, chief guest of the programme. She released the Silver Jubilee Souvenir and addressed the gathering. She congratulated and she was happy about the growth of the institution. 

She talked about the revision of the curriculum and the governmental funding opportunities to improve the status of nursing in the country. Dr. Mamatha S.Pai, Professor,MCONManipal expressed words of gratitude. Students of MCON sung the College anthem and was followed by cultural programs by students and alumni. Master of Ceremony for the programme was Dr. Linu Sara George, Professor, MCON and masters of Ceremony for the cultural programmes were Dr.Blessy Prabha Valsaraj, Professor, MCON & Ms. Jezel Neha Lewis, BSc Nursing student.
