REPORT ON ANTIRAGGING WEEK (12 - 18 AUGUST, 2024)

Manipal College of Nursing (MCON), MAHE, Manipal observed ‘Antiragging week’ from August 12–18, 2024, as per the directives of University Grants Commission. The newly joined students of BSc Nursing were oriented about the antiragging strategies at MCON on August 7, 2024. The students were assured of their safety in the MAHE campus.

The antiragging squad of MCON is making regular surprise visits to the hostels. It was ensured that all the students of MCON, MAHE, Manipal have signed the antiragging affidavit form stating that he/she will not indulge in any behaviour or act that may be construed as ragging under clause 3 of the UGC Regulations and, if found guilty of ragging, are liable for punishment according to clause 9.1 of the UGC Regulations.

The posters detailing antiragging strategies at MCON, highlighting the possible punishments for those found guilty of ragging are displayed on all the class noticeboards and hostels.

As part of the antiragging week, various activities were held, such as Essay writing, Slogan writing, Logo making, and poster designing competitions for both the students and the faculty of MCON. Students from the newly admitted batch and senior batch students (UG and PG) including the faculty, participated in the events. The activities undertaken were updated on the UGC website and aligned with SDGs 3 and 16, i.e., good health and well-being and peace, justice, and strong institutions, respectively. Overall coordination was done by Dr.Melita Sheilini, Associate Professor, and the Chairperson of Antiragging squad, Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal.
