The Manipal School of Nursing, MCON, MAHE, Manipal organized a Webinar on “Updates in Health Care Management” on 8th July 2020 at 9am.
Dr. Leena Sequira, Principal, Manipal School of Nursing, welcomed the resource persons, Dr. Anice George, Dean, MCON, Dr Judith Anjelita Noronha, Associate Dean, MCON, faculty members of MCON and MSON and all the participants.
The key note address was delivered by Dr Anice George, wherein she highlighted the importance of nurses in the clinical field. She emphasized the competency and confidence required by the present nurses to face the challenges during health care delivery.
Ms. Precilla Noronha, Infection Control Nurse, Kasturba Hospital Manipal, spoke on ‘Infection Control Practices related to COVID 19’. She emphasized on history, structure, symptoms, mode of transmission, prevention, airborne precautions, and implementing nursing care for covid-19 patients.
Ms Sharmaine Crystal Salins, Quality Control Nurse, KH Manipal, presented on the topic ‘Medication Administration’. She enlightened the participants about the importance of nurses role in medication administration, the areas of medication error and safe medication administration practices, and ten rights of medication administration.
Dr Latha T, Assistant Professor, MCON Manipal, enlightened on ‘Effective Communication in Health Care’. She stressed on the importance of communication in a healthcare setting to provide excellent patient care and patient satisfaction. She mentioned about five 'C's of effective communication - Clarity, Consistency, Creativity, Content, and Connections. She shared her live experiences in the clinical setting and encouraged our budding nurses to embrace the effective communication in their professional life.
The number of participants in the webinar were 73. Mr. Manoj, Assistant Lecturer, MSON, was the Master of Ceremony. The webinar was concluded by the vote of thanks proposed by Ms.Sharada , Assistant Lecturer, MSON, Manipal.
