Report on Oration - 2020

Manipal College of Nursing organized Oration in memory of legends in Nursing late Prof. P. P Bhanumathi, the founder Dean of MOCN and Late Dr. Aparna Bhaduri a world-renowned nurse researcher and the PG Coordinator at MCON MAHE on 28 December 2020.

Prof.  (Late). P. P. Bhanumathi founded Manipal College of Nursing in 1990 with a vision to top the nation in terms of quality education, training and placement. The oration was bejewelled by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Lt. Gen. (Dr) M D Venkatesh on the theme Highlights of the National Education Policy – 2020 and its Innovative Inference to Nursing”. Key features of the entire National Education Policy including the academic excellence, research collaboration, priority for research, strengthening the professional education of Nursing, internationalization etc were accentuated.  The orator has significantly expressed and called for the methodical and meaningful take-off of the entire changes as per NEP in terms of its competencies for greater workforce preparation and capacity enhancement. 

The second oration on the theme “Transforming global nursing research through collaboration” in memory of (Late) Dr Aparna Bhaduri, the PG coordinator was orated by Dr Sailaxmi Gandhi, Professor and Head Department of Nursing, NIMHANS Bangalore. Insightful data were spoken and presented on the essence of collaboration, benefits of collaboration, facilitators in Research Collaboration, collaboration for better scientific impact. Faculty, alumni, students and well-wishers of Manipal College of Nursing participated in the oration.

Dr Anice George, Dean MCON, with a deep sense of gratitude for being mentored by the two giant personalities, made it clear that good administration, education and research will follow as their footsteps as we proceed towards maintaining the highest level of standards in Nursing and its visibility.
