Exhibition on Instructional Media

An exhibition on instructional media was organised by first year M. Sc. Nursing students of Manipal College of Nursing Manipal, Manipal Academy of Higher Education on 15th January 2015. The inauguration of the exhibition was done by the Chief Guest Dr. Reem Rachel Abraham, Professor Department of Physiology, Melaka Manipal Medical College.

The inauguration was followed by a stage programme. Mr. Romeo Mathew, first year M. Sc. Nursing student welcomed the gathering. Dr. Blessy Prabha Valsaraj, the Subject Coordinator of Nursing Education, highlighted the importance of Instructional Media in Education, motivated the students about the need to chase perfection in order to gain excellence in teaching and also introduced the Chief Guest.

Dr. Anice George, Dean Manipal College of Nursing, emphasized that patient education is the major responsibility of nurses and the nursing fraternity need to be equipped to adapt with the available educational media for their effective utilization. Dr. Reem Rachel Abraham verbalized that such exhibition shows the paramount priority given by the college in teaching and learning and she wished success to the exhibition. Dr. Anice George presented a memento to the Chief Guest. Ms. Tandra Kabiraj, first year M. Sc. Nursing student proposed the vote of thanks.  

The instructional media were arranged under the classification of display boards, three dimensional aids, printed aids, graphic aids, projected aids and audio- visual aids. The instructional media exhibited under display boards were flannel graph, peg board and bulletin board. The three dimensional aids exhibited were moulage, diorama and model. Teaching machine and puppet were the activity aids presented. The instructional media under printed aids were handouts, pamphlets and booklets. Pictures, photographs and diagram, cartoon and comics, maps, posters, flip charts, flash cards, charts and graphs were put forth under graphic aids. The projected aids exhibited were PPT, LCD and OHP. In the category of audio- visual aid, an educational film ‘How I became a nurse’ was presented.

The exhibition was open to all the faculty, national and international students of Manipal College of Nursing Manipal and Manipal School of Nursing from 9:30am to 3pm. The exhibition was a worthwhile learning experience for all the organizers as well as audience.
