Report of Annual Day 2016

” If someone can do it, I can do it. If someone else can’t, I still can do it” said DR.SANTY N SAJAN, General Manager, Columbia Asia Hospital, Whitefield, Bengaluru addressing the gathering here on 30/1/2016 during the 26th annual day of Manipal College of Nursing Manipal at TMA Pai hall.

February 02, 2016

She said it was indeed a nostalgic moment this day to be here in this great university. She recalled her memories of a decade ago when she was doing her post graduation in MCON. Beyond the bedside; a changing role of today’s nursing is what I intend to speak on this day. Healthcare is changing by forces promoting major changes in delivery of healthcare. Nurses are not just caring for the patients but are controlling the healthcare and are changing notion taking up various roles of being chief nursing officer, chief executive officer and beyond this a leader heading the hospital. Nurses and patients are the centre of the wheel. Nurses are the biggest interface and are effective member of healthcare team. It’s not easy to get to the lead; one needs to grow from grassroot level that is being at bedside and then everything will spiral up said DR.SANTY. If you call me successful today it is because of the motivation I received from the leaders I met during my career. The nursing education, training and experience have enabled my success today. If I can do it even you can do it perhaps much better than me! If you want to lead the healthcare team then: step out of your comfort zone, develop relationship, find a mentor and most important, value your work. I believe nurses are lifeline of healthcare system so I urge you to develop nursing skills for good use said DR.Santy speaking to the gathering.
