Hands-on workshop on First Aid Care Package (FACP)

Manipal College of Nursing (MCON) in association with ICMR conducted three days workshop on First Aid Care Package (FACP) for the autorickshaw drivers of Udupi district at simulation center, Health Science Library, MAHE, Manipal from January 6 to 8, 2020.

Sessions on the assessment of RTA victims, CPR, care of wound and bandaging, shifting of patients and legal protection of first responders were covered.

Mr Vinish V, Asst. Prof, MCON, Mr Sooraj, Senior Research Fellow, MCON, Dr Jyothi Chakrabarthy, Professor, MCON; Dr Sandeep Vijayan, Associate Professor, Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal, Dr Mahesh Kulkarni, Assistant Professor, KMC, Manipal and Mr Manjunath, Inspector of Police, Manipal took the sessions on the above topics.

Total of 83 autorickshaw drivers participated in the three days programme. First aid kit was distributed to all the participants.

Valedictory function of the three-day workshop was held on January 8, 2020. Dr Prabhudev B Mane, Chief Operating Officer (COO) - Campus Safety, MAHE, Manipal was the chief guest of the programme. Speaking on this occasion, Dr Mane stressed the importance of first aid in saving the life of accident victims. Dr Shashidhara Y N advised the participants to practice the skill which they acquired during the workshop to save the people who are in need.

Dr Tessy Treesa Jose, Professor & HOD, Department of Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing, MCON, Dr Shashidhara Y N, HOD, Department of Community Health Nursing, MCON and Mr Vinish V, Asst.Prof, Department of Community Health Nursing, MCON were the other dignitaries present for the program. Mr Vinish V, the Programme Coordinator, welcomed the gathering. Mr Sooraj, Senior Research Fellow, MCON proposed the vote of thanks.
