REPORT OF SCHOOL HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAMME

The Department of Community Health Nursing & students of Final Year B Sc Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal, organized the “School health awareness program at Government aided Higher Primary School, Hirebettu, on 11th January 2025 at 10.00 am.
The program commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Viola Fernandes, final Year BSc Nursing student, and followed by that, screening of school children was done. Ms Anitta Thomas, a final year BSc nursing student demonstrated yoga to the children, and all actively participated in the event. The final year B Sc Nursing students deliberated the session on “Healthy Choices and Happy Life” by using different AV aids such as charts, videos, and role play and enlightened the young minds on a healthy diet, exercise, healthy habits, personal hygiene, and highlighted the importance of having healthy behaviour.
Thereafter, Ms Asvita Pinto, a final year BSc Nursing student also gave a health talk to the children from school and Anganwadi. All children actively participated in the games and prizes for the winners were distributed. A total of 28 participants attended the program, which included 13 school children, nine Anganwadi children and six teachers. The efforts of staff and students from MCON, in organizing this camp were appreciated by Ms Sumangala, Headmistress of Government aided Higher Primary School, Hirebettu. This program contributed to SDG-3 Good health and well-being and SDG-4 Quality Education.
The program was concluded by a vote of thanks by Mr. Sherwin Karkada, final Year BSc Nursing student, and the program was coordinated and guided by Dr. Jeyalakshmi K, Assistant professor – Senior scale, Department of Community Health Nursing, MCON, Manipal.
