National Road Safety Week - 2021

Nation Road Safety Week is observed from January 11 to 17 every year. It aims at making the roads and streets in India safer. During this weeklong yearly campaign, the government spreads awareness about how to drive safely in order to avoid accidents and injuries. This year, we are celebrating 32nd Road Safety Week and its theme is “Safe yourself to save your family”.

National Road Safety Week - 2021 was observed by the faculty of the department of community health nursing and students of II year PBBSc Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal on January 11, 2021, from 4.00 to 5.00 pm through MS Teams (Online platform).

The programme began with a welcome address by Ms Shrinidhi, the II year PBBSc student. Dr Shashidhara Y N, HoD, Department of community health nursing MCON, revealed the theme of Road Safety week - 2021. Mr Nagesh Nayak, Assistant Police Sub-Inspector, Manipal Police Station, Manipal gave a brief talk on the importance of observing Road Safety week. In his speech, he addressed the importance of following rules and regulations while driving the vehicle. The students of II PBBSc Nursing conducted a presentation on different types of traffic signals. 

The participants effectively used the question and answer session arranged for them. Mrs Swathi, II year PBBSc student proposed the vote of thanks. Mr Gaurav, II year PBBSc student was the Master of the ceremony. There were 104 participants attended the programme. The overall programme was guided and supported by Mr Vinish V, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Health Nursing, MCON, MAHE, Manipal.
