Report of the Guest Lecture
Department of Fundamentals of Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal organized a Guest Lecture on “Facilitating high-quality virtual simulation” on September 30, 2020, between 4.00 pm to 5.00 pm for faculty members through Microsoft Team Platform. Dr Beena Joseph, Clinical Assistant Professor and Clinical Coordinator, University of Houston, College of Nursing, Houston, Texas, USA, and adjunct faculty, MCON, MAHE Manipal, was the resource person.
She described various steps involving conducting virtual simulation to assess student learning, using a simulation conducted and evaluated by the mentors, faculty members, and examiners. She even explained the simulation setting at her place, which consists of advanced lab mimicking actual patient scenarios and highlighting the role of faculty and training requirements for practice.
The webinar was attended by 51 faculty members from MCON, MSON, MAHE, and other nursing colleges.
