Awards & Annual Day 2020

“Today’s students are the future of nursing profession. They need to be proud about their profession, look forward for opportunities to bring changes in the lives of others”, said the Chief Guest Prof (Dr) Roy K George, who is the National President TNAI, Academic Director Baby Memorial Hospital & Principal Baby Memorial College of Nursing, Kozhikode during the 30th Awards & Annual day celebration of Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal.

He emphasized on Nightingale’s vision for universal recognition of nurse’s which was for after 150 years and we have come to achieve her dream. Health care is one of the most important area and without nurses it is impossible to achieve health for all. Nurses have to project their role in healthcare and someone else cannot do it for them. He further added that nurses can be innovators and advocates of public health. In conclusion, he congratulated MCON for organizing the Walkathon as part of the International Year of Nurses and Midwives.  

Dr H Vinod Bhat, Vice-Chancellor, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, in his presidential address congratulated MCON for its various achievements and encouraged to continue the same in the coming years. He also said that initially we may have to struggle being the young institution to get along and achieve success. He expressed that every student is a winner in the class as they are exposed to outreach programme, classes, clinical and much more in years to come. He further encouraged the students to take up some research projects which will be funded by the university under the able guidance of faculty of MCON. He emphasized to explore everything, may it be education, research or hospital administration. 

Awards for meritorious students for their excellence in education and faculty members for their various achievements were presented. Ms. Fatema Mohamed Hassanali Fazal, BSc Nursing batch of 2015-19 was awarded the Best outgoing student.  

Dr Elsa Sanatombi Devi was awarded the most accomplished faculty of the year. Good Teacher award was bagged by Mrs Shalini G Nayak, Assistant Professor and Mrs Shobha, Lecturer, MCON, Manipal.

The formal launch of the International year of Nursing and Midwifery – 2020 was done by giving an overview of the year-long event, which was deliberated by Mr. Vinish, Assistant Professor and the Program Coordinator. 

Dr. Anice George, Dean Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest. Dr. Judith Angelitta Noronha, Associate Dean and Professor, Department of OBG Nursing, MCON, Manipal presented the Annual report of the college. Mrs. Yashoda Sathish, Assistant Professor and Convener of the Annual Day program proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. Sushmitha R Karkada, Assistant Professor, compered the formal program. 

The formal function was followed by an enchanting multicultural entertainment program by the students and faculty members of the college.
