Talk on “Say No To Drugs”

As part of the ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ campaign under the aegis of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal organized a session on the topic, 'Say No to Drugs’ for the 2nd-semester BSc Nursing students of Manipal College of Nursing Manipal on 4th of August 2022 from 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm. This was conducted as part of the celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Mr. Renjulal Yesodharan, Assistant Professor, Department of Mental Health Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal, was the speaker for the session. Mr. Renjulal discussed the different addictive drugs and their effect on the physical and mental health of a person. He elaborated on the major effects of commonly abused drugs including alcohol and tobacco. During the session, students expressed their thoughts on various causes of drug abuse among the youth. Mr. Renjulal said, the Mental Health Nursing department of the college is always ready to extend support to any student who is in need of assistance to prevent drug abuse recover from the addiction. Students were invited for an interactive session at the end of the session.

A total of one hundred BSc Nursing students participated in the session. Ms. Anusha Varughese, and Ms. Remya Elizabeth George, 4th year BSc Nursing students coordinated the event and they were guided by Dr. Anice George and Mrs. Prima J J D'Souza, faculty advisors of the Student Nurses Association.
