ANNUAL SPORTS MEET 2025-26

The Annual Sports Meet of Manipal College of Nursing (MCON), MAHE, was held on November 24, 2025, and was marked by great enthusiasm, high energy, and exemplary sportsmanship.
Dr Vinod C Nayak, Associate Dean – Administration, KMC Manipal, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and officially inaugurated the sports meet by releasing balloons.
The program commenced with an impressive marchpast by the four teams of Student Nurses Association—Panthers, Falcons, Jaguars, and Ravens—led by the Sports Chairperson,
Ms Jemimah James David, who proudly carried the college flag. A torch-bearing ceremony was conducted by five outstanding sportspersons of the college: Mr Sonam Gurmey, Ms Alisha D’Souza, Mr Gautham Prakash, Mr Renon D’Souza, and Mr Abhay.
Dr Judith Angelitta Noronha, Dean of MCON, welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest. In his address, Dr. Vinod C. Nayak encouraged students to participate wholeheartedly and uphold the spirit of sportsmanship. Students who won at the state and national, and international levels were honoured with trophies. The inaugural ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Melita Sheilini, Sports Advisor,MCON.
The day featured a series of energetic and competitive sports events, including the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, long jump, high jump, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, and 4×100m relay for both men and women. Faculty members also participated enthusiastically in events such as 100m, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw, and Bombing the City. Winners were awarded medals and certificates for various track and field events.
The Valedictory Ceremony began at 4:30 p.m. with Dr Reena Sherin Parveen, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacology, KMC, Manipal, as the Chief Guest. Dr Tessy Treesa Jose, Associate Dean, MCON, welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest. Ms Jemimah James David, Sports Chairperson, presented an overview of the annual sports activities and achievements.
The Chief Guest felicitated the best performers. The Individual Championship was awarded to Ms Alisha D’Souza, 3rd semester BSc Nursing in the Women’s Category, and Mr Goutham Prakash, 7th semester BSc Nursing in the Men’s Category. The Best Outgoing Sportsperson 2025-26 was awarded to Ms Jemimah James David,7th semester Bsc Nursing in the Women’s Category and Mr Abhay, 2nd year Post Basic BSc Nursing in the Men’s Category. Team Panthers proudly lifted the Overall Championship Trophy.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Prima D’Souza, Sports Co-advisor,MCON. Overall, the Annual Sports Meet 2025 was a vibrant celebration of talent, determination, and excellence, making it a memorable and remarkable milestone in the college. The actvities of the sports event is aligned with the sustainable development goal 3 i.e Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for everyone at all ages.
